The Black Horse
The Black Horse is situated on Rathbone Place, so named after Captain Thomas Rathbone, a local noble gentleman whose family have owned land and property here since 1684. The street itself has been home to many famous names, including the renowned artist John Constable. The pub itself has certainly seen its share of famous people too, not least the social revolutionist Karl Marx who once addressed a gathering here. Of course, you don't have to like politics if you decide to stop in. Just nice food and ale.
